8 Travel Must Haves for Babies & Toddlers
My family & I are traveling in the next couple of days and I wanted to share some of the things I will packing to make our travels seems a bit easier. First, we have a 2 year old and 6 month old (both girls) and they both have BIG personalities. Our last plane ride was a WRECK. I cried in the back seat of the car on my way home because my, at the time, 4 month old cried the ENTIRE flight. She did not just cry, she SCREAMED!
There was a rude guy next to us, holding his ears and making smart remarks like “Shut that baby up…” Let’s just say, that if my husband were there, it would’ve been chaos on the plane. Ok, let’s skip the drama & jump into the good stuff!

#1
Blackout cover for Pack ‘N Play: both of my girls are used to sleeping in rooms with blackout curtains and their sound machines. If your child is anything like mine, then this is necessary especially if you are sharing a room
#2
Car Seat Travel Bag: Some airlines provide a plastic bag, but others don’t. We are flying American Airlines and we know that they never provide a bag. We automatically assumed they would because when we flew with Frontier Airlines, they gave us a plastic bag for our car seat. So, better safe than sorry, we went ahead and ordered these.
#3
Portable Bottle Warmer: Although I am breastfeeding, I like to have some formula bottles on hand just in case. With our last flight being a disaster, I kept thinking what can I do differently? and having ready to make bottles was one thing I did not have. My daughter was so frazzled and upset, she even refused to nurse. I think having a bottle as an option may make things easier.
#4
Portable Baby High Chair: I cannot wait to try this out. This will be essential for restaurants. I cannot speak to the convenience of it yet, but I will provide updates on my Instagram stories during our vacation.
#5
Kids Headphones: These are for my toddler! She has never worn headphones, but we tried them out at home with her iPad and she LOVED wearing them. She sat on the sofa so quietly watching her iPad, so I am hoping for the same reaction when we board the plane.
#6
Inflatable bathtub: there’s no telling whether or not your hotel room will have a bathtub or standup shower, so to take out the guesswork, I purchased this easy to travel with inflatable bathtub. This can also serve as a mini/kiddie pool to sit poolside with your small baby.
#7
Portable Sound Machine: this is a MUST for us. Like I said, both of our girls are used to an entire nap/bedtime routine and both include using a sound machine. We purchased this small sound machine for naps by the pool or on the beach.
#8
Portable Baby Tent: This will be used on the beach for nap time and when the baby needs to escape the sun. I love that this one is affordable and compact, so we can easily pack it with us in our suitcase.
Well, there you have it! I have a ton of other things I will make packing to make our travels easier, so if you liked this, I’d be happy to create a part two!
