The holiday’s are here and I have started transitioning my home slowly, but surely. This year I started much earlier than usual. Typically, I begin decorating after Thanksgiving, but I think I was peer pressured – unintentionally – with all of the holiday content I’ve been seeing across all social media platforms. In this post, I am going to share my simple way of making an Orange Christmas Garland, so let’s get to it…
Materials:
- 5-6 large navel oranges
- jute string (I purchased from Dollar Tree – craft section)
- assorted wooden beads (affiliate link)
Directions:
Step 1: I started by thinly cutting the oranges (1/4 thick or thinner). Naturally, not all oranges were the same thickness, which is okay because you want to add size variation.
Step 2: this is where I did it slightly different from other’s. If you didn’t know, this orange garland was trending last year, but I didn’t get a chance to create one, so I made sure to add this onto my holiday craft list this year. Instead of dehydrating in the oven at 250 degree F, I put them in the Air Fryer at 250 Degrees and it was so much faster! I did about 3 batches, set to 15 minutes each.
Step 3: After all oranges were dehydrated, I put them aside to dry even more overnight – this step is optional. My daughter woke up from her nap, which naturally pushed back the completion of this project.
Step 4: I put a hole in the center of the orange slice with a straw and started arranging the oranges & beads. I didn’t follow a pattern and just went with the flow. Some oranges were separated with one bead and others with 3-4 beads – it all depends on what look you are going for.

Here she is…
I absolutely love the simple holiday garland! It is such a simple way to elevate your holiday decor. I still have a ton of beads and oranges leftover, so I plan to make ornaments in the next week or so.
